Our Project

Northwest British Columbia LNG Plant

Innovative, Efficient, and Sustainable LNG Production

About the project

Since September 2024, NFE has been dedicated to designing the Northwest British Columbia LNG Plant in Kitimat, British Columbia, with the goal of supplying the rapidly growing Asian market with energy.

In collaboration with PETRONAS Energy Canada Ltd. (PECL), our team is designing a facility with a total capacity of 14 Million Tons Per Annum (MTPA) across two liquefaction trains (7 MTPA each). The primary objectives of this plant are to ensure safety, maximize efficiency, and enhance profitability while meeting environmental and regulatory standards.

With the global LNG market experiencing strong demand, our plant is positioned to supply China, Japan, and South Korea, the top three LNG importers, which collectively imported 190 million tonnes in 2024. Our project capitalizes on this market opportunity by offering a competitive, energy-efficient, and cost-effective solution.

Feedstock and Economic Feasibility

Our natural gas feedstock is sourced from the Coastal GasLink pipeline, ensuring a stable and reliable supply.

The economic outlook for this project is highly attractive:

Project Optimization

The implementation of an optimized liquefaction process and adjusted refrigerant composition in the second phase of the project allowed NFE to meet the project goals.

Stay tuned for further project developments!
